Lady Faith Mordain’s fiancé is castigated in Guy Delamar’s Harbinger newspaper as a thief. She believes the social climbing editor must be wrong—though Lord Thomas apparently did take flight with the company’s funds. The race to retrieve the funds or the peer’s reputation is on—with Faith’s chaperoning aunt pulling some odd and unsettling strings. Regency Romance by Joan Smith; originally published by Fawcett

Love Harbinger edition by Joan Smith Romance eBooks

The H is too brusque and unforgiving, too harshly drawn. I would just start to like him when he'd act like a jerk again. The h is too rude and proud, although a bit softer. But she'd still cut off her nose to spite her face. The chaperone should be fired for putting her charge at risk of a ruined reputation that would trickle down to her sisters not yet out. The ending comes too abruptly for it to be credible and needed fleshing out. And I'm suspicious of the historical accuracy of a mixed race commoner being so accepted at such high levels of society, given England's reputation for xenophobia. It's not the worst read ever and I did finish but it's not a reread, either.

Love Harbinger edition by Joan Smith Romance eBooks Reviews

Enjoy this author.
I enjoy the book!
Just about everything Joan Smith writes is a five star book. Witty, intelligent, fun. You can't go wrong.
Fun story with many twists and turns. Nicely tidied up in the end. I will continue to read the books of Joan Smith and recommend them to others. I do love a clean story.
I've read at least 25 Joan Smith regencies so far, and Guy Delamar is my favorite hero of them all. Such a perfect blend of masculinity, tenderness, wit, and cunning. He and his heroine are well-matched. My only complaint is that my acquaintance with these great characters had to end so soon. Plus, Love's Harbinger is one of Smith's 1980's works, which seem to be my favorites overall.
This is definitely one of Joan Smith's better novels.
There is action all the way.
The Hero especially is a well rounded character. He is a self made man and proud of it.
The heroine is not anybody exceptional but redeems herself towards the end.
I highly recommend this particular book to any JS fan. You will not be disappointed.
This is another satisfying read from Joan Smith. She has become my go-to author for sweet Recency romance. She writes characters and situations that feel real and her dialogue is some of the best I've read in any genre. In this book, I especially liked the hero and the development of his romance with the heroine. Well done. If you enjoy sweet historical romance stories, there is no author I could give a higher recommendation.
